Good morning folks. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut as the Southerly yesterday never really kicked in properly. Windang was a very flukey 10 to 18 knts., waves were all over the place and the air temp was akin to arctic conditions (although the live guard going for a swim in board shorts didn't think so).
On the upside, the southerly brought us a new kick in Southerly swell and it's currently in the 4 to 5 foot range at the point. Plenty of people out surfing at the moment. Not much wind expected for today though.
So based on that experience I'll be downgrading my expectations for the weekend. Here my forecast:
Friday: 10 - 15 knts, waves in the 3 to 4 foot range possibly bigger
Saturday: 10 - 15 knts, waves in the 3 to 4 foot range
Sunday: 15 - 20 knts, waves in the 3 to 4 foot range possibly a bit smaller
Monday: 20 knts, waves in the 3 foot range possibly a bit smaller
I'll try to get some pix and a write up on here every morning by 9am.
Photos coming later.
Good going that you're brave enough to get into forecasting. There was enough of a southerly that you can claim a win, the BOM would've. We'll let you know when you're wrong. Like your forecast for monday.
BOM, what do they know with their science degrees - and they like to use averages a lot also. I like your optimism though.
