It's sunny and not too cold this morning. Woke up to what Gerroa usually looks like mid summer sans the waves.
Below pics were taken about 8am. Wind was about 20 - 25 knts. with quite a bit of North in it. Very gusty on the inside but solid out at the point.
Waves are in the 6 foot range but with long waits in between sets.
Looking at the forecast for today I'd say it should be quite sailable around lunch time. For those thinking about driving down: You'll definitely be able to get a sail in down at Shoalhaven Heads. However, on the way down I'd keep an eye out for any of the spots further North (eg Corrimal, Warilla). If you can see white caps as you come down the pass stick to the Gong.
10 am update: Waves have started to come in a bit more frequently and the bomby started to break as well. There are plenty of white caps in the bay... it's say about 20 knts. . Main break is still a bit iffy as far as the wind is concerned.
11:50am update: Just got back from Kiama. Wind has now filled in enough on the main break to be good for a sail. Should be a good 25 knts down at Shoalhaven now.
Saw a couple of really nice super clean 6 foot sets roll in... no one out except for a couple of surfers at the point. Where is everyone?
2:30pm update: Finally update for the day... clouds moved in and wind disappeared quicker than it came in. Tried my luck on a 5.4 but got so light on the inside the wind wouldn't even carry the sail. Read: There was no wind.
Waves are pure quality and there is now a sizeable crew out surfing it.
Can you get those power lines moved (3rd photo)![]()
Nice work on the reports... when do the online stats for wind direction & strength come on line ![]()
Drove past Port Kembla at lunch and it was super clean surf wise; wind was probably NE 15kts, but it's been swinging north a lot all day. Just driving home from work then and a bit further north up at Peggies was on! 18-23kts, 6ft sets, clean...f#@ you broken finger...so tempted :P
Sailed Warilla from about 12.00 - 2.00. Really nice sets in the six foot plus range. Was a bit light at around 14-18 knts. A few more knts and it would have been epic, but not complainihg as it was a really nice sail. ![]()

Stopped in at Gerroa for a look just after lunch (saw you rigging the 5.4), a lone kite boarder out enjoying the waves.
Continued on to Shoalhaven heads for a bit of a run on the river (im still getting use to my new board / I'm still learning to windsurfing..) running a 6.1 and having fun, managed to do a few good waterstarts and I managed to stay on quite a bit in between falls! ^_^ Ill be out in the big blue soon enough...
Cheers
Simon.
PS. nice work on the reports :)
Weird wind today. I was walking the dog down at Shoalhaven Heads at around 7:30am this morning and it was probably 8-10 knots on the beach. So imagine my surprise when I got home and saw this post!
I was the lone kiter at the Shoalhaven Heads at lunch time if anyone came down to look. You may have been able to see my smile from the car park. ![]()
