Hi folks. Sorry for the lack of reporting yesterday. I was in Sydney for work and only got back yesterday lunchtime. Not that it really matters. I think no one saw this one coming.
On the way down from Sydney it was a mix between rain and fog. Even Gerroa was strangely shrouded in fog until about 3pm. What followed was something I had only ever before seen around San Francisco. The fog started to retreat North giving way to a solid 30 knt Nor'Easter. Although it wasn't a Seabreeze per se. This was solely wind due to the pressure gradient between fog and clear sky. It lasted all of about 1 1/2 hrs and as quickly as it had come it disappeared. There were a few people out making use of the conditions but to be honest after the great conditions last weekend I wasn't even interested.
This was then followed by a 30 knt Southerly which hit about 6pm. Neither the Southerly nor the Nor'Easter were properly forecast in strength and looking at the weather maps I can't blame them for it.
Looking ahead, we might get some good conditions over the next few days. I think Sunday could be good if the swell comes through as predicted.
It was interesting but the BOM yesterday morning had both the direction and strength covered in their forecast but no timing was there to allow planning for it.
Seg, it looks pretty north on Sunday, could be another later session for Gerroa and windy around the 'gong, probably 20 + knots I guess, gusty. Sydney only 15 + range so Wanda could have some south swell waves.
What's Whyner talking about, somehere north of Gerroa with surf and less wind or south near Jervis with almost the same wind and less surf? Nowhere is secret any more - is it?
On east coast. Locals will kill me if I tell. Reef break 200m long on good day. Hope to get some photos this weekend. I'll post some.
