Hi all. The rain has stopped at last and when I look out the window is somewhat resembles what Gerroa usually looks like. It's currently about 10 knts. with the odd chest high set. They are far and inbetween though. Probably something to do with the tide.
I am guessing we might actually have some wind today. But then again the same will go for Sydney and the Gong. The swell seems to be solid from the North East. So beach further north might get a bit more swell. My recommendation would be if you are driving down have a look at Peggies, Corrimal, Wanda first and save your self the money for petrol if it's good at any of those spots.

Well naming technicalities aside if you had have gone to "Peggies" yesterday I think you'd have had a great time. The small bay between Peggies and Sandon Pt is good for both southerlies and noreasters. It's good LOC practice to take off at the Sandon Point end and try and go deep enough to clip the rocks at the end of Peggies.
But the forecast was for it to swing NNE which leaves the wind way offshore at Peggies, so Kanahooka was the call. It's up with Gerroa as a windy place, possibly the windiest place on the east coast yesterday - you're just not sailing in the ocean.
As it turned out it picked up and stayed NE.
Luckily, because I weigh less, Gerroa was fantastic for me yesterday!
It was my second time to Gerroa (last time was about a year ago).
Got on the water before 11 using a 3.6m, had plenty of power and this was when the wind was the most consistent. Had a fantastic hour of sailing but stayed clear of the waves-still a bit worried about getting worked by the whitewater. My confidence grew as I felt comfortable and was having a ball.
After a short break, rigged a 3.0m as the wind got stronger but gustier and still used my Flare60 (biggest board) because of the holes in the wind .Spent time looking at the wave sets to pick my time to launch and learnt how to punch through the whitewater(easier than I imagined it ).
Started spending more time in the wave zone rather than out the back,gaining more confidence with every run.
Then I started catching waves in,instead of just out-running them. Caught the waves earlier and pointing down the line. Oh what a feeling!
Twice I managed to link 3 bottom and 3 top turns.
Then the wind died .
Can't wait to sail Gerroa again!
