First time at Gerroa in a NE, drove down from Sydney, took 4.5/5/5.6. Looking at the trees on the drive down it looked like a low 20s seabreeze at the coast, got to gerroa and it looked a bit windier than that!!, though to myself your in NSW can't be that windy in a seabreeze 5.0 should be small enough, did one run, straight back for the 4.5, and still stacked on that in gusts.

Was looking at the today seabreeze graphs, and that seems to show less then 10knots for most the day, with kiami showing 15knots, and bellambi mid 20's.

Must have been in the low 30's at times today, any idea, on how to interpret the Sydney forecast for sailable weather in a NE, at gerroa?

I learned many years ago it's best to simply pack every sail you own. Nothing like missing out on fun time on the water just because you left that one sail you needed at home.

racer,
Gerroa is a bit of a freakie place in a NE. Being on the north side of Sydney it has to be a calculated call for me to go - usually based on the swell direction, oh yeah and 3 kids!

If it's sunny and NE in Sydney it will be strong in Gerroa. Occasionally Botany or Wanda will be windier if it is cloudy or really humid such as late January or Feb.

There are a few posts on this. The consensus is that Wollongong area is more consistent earlier in the season and that Gerroa is bloody windy!!
