Much wind down there? I sailed here in the Gong but it was light, 15kts-ish. Supposedly a southerly swell pulse Monday arvo

It was very gusty at Gerroa, I sailed to about 2pm with my 5.4....overpowered and underpowered at the same time. The swell was small and it was busy with holiday makers...fun but too busy for my liking so I packed up and headed for Wollumboula for the rest of the arvo and sailed to about 7pm.

Hopefully more of the same today.

You should've seen Wanda, the beach was completely packed and there were tonnes of swimmers too. You had to look for a gap in the swimmers to launch from.

looks like maybe the Gerroa sensor has moved behind a tree or something?

Yup... that's xmas holidays on the EastCoast in a nutshell... if it is windy there are so many people on the beach it makes sailing almost impossible.

That said... looks like there is a good Southerly followed by a North Easter period on the horizon.

today the Gerroa graph looked a bit off as well. 'gong looked like it was the go. CJW, assuming you got out? I managed 6am the other morning in the ripper NE swell last week. 3 kids makes opportunities scarce!

seg, I didn't even see a kite out at Manly this arvo, it was packed with tourists. 1000 per ferry were pouring in yesterday. prob busier today.

Super busy, lots of swimmers and families learning to surf. Also had to focus on the 4-5 Kiters zipping throughout the break, changing direction and working both upwind and downwind banks whenever a wave appeared. I also got hit by a liter today sailing Butterbox at longreef.

Thought Gerroa was heaps of fun ESP yesterday. The waves were nice a bit further down the beach and hardly any surfers or swimmers there. How was long reef today? Windy enough to get out? Think I might try that tomorrow if my extremely unfit body can handle 3 days in a row.

I would totally disregard the readings - Sunday I was planing the whole time on 5.0 and the graphs never left the red

Wanda was good yesterday - the rips kept the swimmers in close so the pretty solid sets were sail able all the way through

Very happy with 2012 from a sailing point of view so far

Sorry guys, I run the Gerroa weather station and it has a problem at the moment. The winds show are from a backup site in Gerringong and is sheltered behind a hill - I hope to get the one on the beach at Gerroa back up soon

Thanks for confirming. Btw, thanks for running the station! (Even if mostly I'm looking at the readings from 100km away and wishing I was there)
