It looks like it will blowing its head off tomorrow with a big low pressure system. Anyone planning to windsurf tomorrow on flat water? I'm heading back to Sydney tomorrow from Macksville/Kempsey and would be keen to go for a windsurf at Queens Lake or perhaps somewhere else. Also I wouldn't mind taking some video or photos of others out there, especially if those brown arrows are for real.

Karl,

Adam,Steve,Dion,Mick & Johnny plus Greg & Byron I think are going to the speed strip at Harrington tomorrow.

You should call in there on your way home.

I have to Work.

Cheers.

Sorry you have to work Captain Mark - that is a BUMMER.

Mobes we are going to be sailing behind the sandbar at Harrington at the mouth of the mighty Manning. You will be able to see us easily from the rock wall, if you can see through the heavy rain and squally wind that is. Even though all the forecasts are aligning to show an excellent day for speed sailing at Harrington bar, there is always an element of doubt with these intense short duration systems, esp with all the forecasted heavy rain.

Hope to see you on the water or behind the lens tomorrow Mobes. Park at the marine rescue building just outside of the harrington town centre where the rock wall meets the mainland.

Wow, That speed strip looks amazing. It's on the list next time I'm up that way. Maybe the long weekend.

Is it best in a southerly???

I'm keen to see some sweet sweet sessions tomorrow boys.

Have fun

Wysey

I'll see how I go. Car issues today that may require time to fix tomorrow. Also it will take time to say goodbye to my family up here too.

Here is a video of some of the action at Harrington yesterday. I was not there for that long, probably less than an hour all up as I had to keep going. I didn't want to be stuck on the side of the highway at night with a broken down vehicle.

I've created a tune for the clip too, so I don't get those nasty emails from Youtube.

Hope you like it and if you do, can you like it on Youtube? Also if you are in it, pass the link onto your family and friends.

It was a pretty amazing day for speed windsurfing. Crazy winds, driving rain. I tried to go to get on the beach to get some photos but got sandblasted and soaked with rain.

I'll post this on the GPS forum as plenty of PBs were achieved there. Well done everyone sailing there, it looked unreal!

Very nice spot and obviously well done guys (sailors & cameraman)!!!
A couple of questions, what wind direction works best there? Is it shallow? and roughly how long are the runs?
Thanks, Marty

So what was the wind direction on Friday? I put down in the video a SE wind but I'm not too sure as I don't know the area that well. From the look of it the Harrington area would be great for flat water windsurfing in many wind directions as there are channels and breakwalls all over the place.

Hey Karl, that wind was SE while you were filming but mostly sse. Southerly is best. I'm thinking hitting it again Monday

Yep, it was ESE - SE. A dead square run. A southerly is the go for top speed - 145 degree downwind run.

If Monday comes off Mehore, Dion and I will be there. It will be good to meet the mysterious Mehore.

I made a big sacrifice to the rockwall gods on friday, so I am hoping we will be good to go. Greg and Byron coming up too it the forecast stays true.

If the wind is directly southerly would that not mean you have a very broad reach one way and then walking it back the other way? It would be interesting to spend a bit of time there when its windy to check out the other channels around there.

What a day The 500m plus walk in and out on the break wall was painful especially at the end of the day. The run was too short to get to top speed as you were still accelerating when hitting the chop at 42 knots.
If the wind had a bit more south in it would be a quicker run as well. But yes harder to get to the start of the run which is the outlet to the ocean.
You also need to have low tide, Still not complaining very happy.
No weed so I could use the 21cm sling shot how good is it compared to a weed fin. Used CA44 with 5.5 maui TR8 25 to 35 knots.
Sand every where and I mean everywhere. Still finding it in my ears and eyes. Washing out my gear had sand every where. It was so much fun sailing with every one and a big congratulation to every one for the PBS smashed. Every one was so friendly. Nice to meet new faces Stayed at the pub with Greg, cheap accommodation & top feed but to many beers I thought I could drink, I met my match in Greg. Had a great day and night. There are photos on GPS web site. This Video from moby is unreal for the trying conditions.

Yes Mobes, a very broad run and walk back in soft sand. I did this about 4 weeks ago on big gear and the speeds were great and not even fully lit
