Fire destroys $250,000 worth of surfboards on Sydney's northern beaches

About 100 people were evacuated in Sydney's northern beaches when a factory erupted in flames, destroying $250,000 worth of surfboards. Emergency services were called to Collaroy surf factory Wind Surf 'N' Snow on Anzac Avenue about 7.50pm on Thursday after reports of a fire.

Firefighters battled the blaze for almost three hours, extinguishing it about 10.45pm. According to police, an estimated 100 residents had to be evacuated from nearby homes, units and businesses as a precaution. No one was injured. The fire is not being treated as suspicious. Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene and have launched an investigation.
