Three of us are coming up from Vic to Myall Lakes in a fortnight for the GPS/slalom. As first-timers there, is there any local knowledge we should know, e.g are weed fins needed, booties?
Looking forward to it.
Nice firm sand and shallow around edge of Lake so don't need booties . Hasn't been any weed last few years, but haven't been there since the Formula/Foil event in March.
Food, Cafe ,Bar and a basic range of groceries at Myall Shores Reception but closes early evening .
Otherwise a drive to Bulahdelah or Hawksnest for supplies around 20- 30Min..Take what you can with you.
Looking forward to a great event ,also great to have a few Interstate travellers coming as well.

Just had a look at my sail log from the last two years.
2016 was light wind, only used 7.7m and weed fin.
2017 was moderate wind used 7.7m 3 times and 7.0 once, half the time on weedy and half pointer.
From memory there is weed but not a huge amount. I think most folk used pointers.
The lake is mostly fresh water and the lack of buoyancy is surprisingly noticeable.
