If its blowing a westerly as strong as Seabreeze predicts, the Central Coast lakes will be much better to sail. Consistent winds with longer runs.

Nah - not yet.
Plane was delayed leaving Shanghai, three hours sitting on the tramac
Missed my connection at Singapore, Now I've got a 7hr wait till my next flight - be home Sunday night.
Singapore airlines was good though they put me up in the Crowne Plaza for a night.
But I've missed out on the comfy seats of the A380 on my last leg., not sure what type of plane i've got now

If you're going south check Lake Illawarra. 5 minutes off the freeway down Northcliff drive. Launch from Illawarra yacht club. 2nd yacht club on the right. Sail 1 NM south, thru the weed. You'll see us at the sandbar on the horizon. Early birds are down there already, 5.4 weather is the report.

When I went past at 6:30 this morning on way to work it was NW and gusty as.
Whitecaps galore but on eastern end near Wimbledon island.
Should swing west and honk, go Tivo Man!!!!!!!!!!!!
Water level is fair bit higher due to rain but strip is still pretty flat.
Save us some wind for this arvo Ads!!!

Dangerous Lake.. wheres that ??

Narrabeenus Lakus circa 1010 AD

Pristine clear waters with a white sandy bottom.
Waist deep water with super flat water one end, bump & jump the other.
Dolphins & fish jump and play.
Warm water all year round.
The wind blows clearly & cleanly every afternoon as nymphs wade in the shallows.

Dangerous Lake circa 2010 AD

Duck poo infested muddy bottom.
Hidden sandbanks where you least expect them.
Swirling inconsistent winds from any direction.
Water hot in summer, freezing in winter.
Friendly locals

Just got a report from Lake Dangerous. One of the boys on a 5.0 JUST hanging on. Couple of others on 4.7. Gusts from 5-35 knots from NW-W-SW and back again.
A 5.5 was tried and got smashed.
39 knot gust recorded at airport.

La Perouse - only a couple of kms from Kurell so I'm sure the wind's the same - but I'm flying on a 4.0. Only me left here now so hope nothing breaks when I'm in the shipping lane between the heads...

Friendly locals yup, but perhaps a bit too friendly as its getting dark. Ever noticed some older guys waiting around in their cars (not windsufers) as it's getting dark..playing with their iPhones.

They're not admiring the view.

Don't hang around there by yourself at dusk and get the hell out of there when its dark

Dont ask me how I know this

I've seen that bloody bludger who parks his bus in the west carpark all summer. It makes you want the council to put in parking fees so the ranger can give him a parking ticket every day. I haven't really seen any other dodgy behaviour around the lake. A few weeks ago there was a big party on the western end where it was non stop reggae music. I don't mind reggae but I could understand why some people may not like it them playing loud music being powered by a generator.

The main reason I like Narrabeen Lake parks is how peaceful and uncrowded it is in the middle of a big urban area.

Zippy, the carparks at the western end of Narrabeen lake are notorious for 'single' male activity. It's not just night, afternoon is popular - gross!

They didn't call it Deep Cream Reserve for nothing!!

I know some cops and they have seen plenty in the trees. Think ugly thoughts. EEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR

thanks for the invite ian k, ended up at paradise beach on st georges basin.. i remember this place used to be awesome in westerlys. and it still is, 4 hours sailing with my 4.2 from the 90s.... what an unreal day!!!. westerlys are really consistent down there. i think cause of Bungonia Gorge (the biggest in Oz) to the west funnels them really well, Jervis Bay looked awesome and flat to(plantation pt would of been epic), though blowing straight out the heads !!!

How far did you have to walk out? Last time I was there I didn't realise that it gets a bit deeper a little further than I was.
