Corlette is a cracking spot in a Nor Easter Des. Depending on tide you may have to walk out a bit to get to the deeper water but the good things is there is barely any wind shadow there. I have sailed there numerous times in a Nor Easter and it is easy to work your way up to Jimmys on the other side if you want. At low tide you even get some awesome runs behind the exposed sand Islands in the middle of the bay. If you want info on where to park and rig shoot me a PM and I'll help you out.
Hope you have a great time up there mate. ![]()
Thanks, I'm staying at Peppers so I was hoping to sail off the beach which is just to the right of the hotel.
I won't hold my breath though as the forecast keeps changing!
I've only got memories of sailing there in the 90's but I recall it can get some big chop with tide opposed to wind...( outgoing tide + NE)
Thanks for the tips. I've sailed the Hawksnest side for decades but never struck wind on the few visits to Port Stephens. It's looking ok at the moment but I managed to bang my knee yesterday trying to get fit... So hoping it can handle whatever the weather turns out to be!
