HI guys,
wondering where everyone gets their wave sailing fix around coffs when the howling southerlies are in town. I'm looking to shoot some action.
Also wanting to touch base with climber but have lost his number. I promised him a coffee
If it has some west in it, comes with a 4m swell, frontal rain squalls and is as gusty as (as the forecast is predicting) then make the drive south to South West Rocks and at least you'll get on the water. It will probably make no odds what you rig, either a 3.5m2 or a 8m2, whichever will have you wishing you had the other one.
If it stays southerly, the forecast strength drops rapidly as the week progresses and the swell never really arrives (as usually happens) then you could drive around between flatrock, the harbour, sawtell estuary, arrawarra and back again before trying to sneak out between the sets under the shelter of sawtell island (despite knowing it probably isn't a good idea) - and then going home and turning the telly on.
But - looking at the forecast Tabatinga might be the best option, although it will probably be busy with school holidays and all.
Thanks Carantoc.
Stunning place. Blew 25-40 five days straight. I saw everything from knee high dtl to logo high cross off walls to dead flat to overhead + barrels peeling for 100m. I checked out every beach from red rock to moonee and over the time saw 1 windsurfer, 4 kiters and about 15 surfers.
There was no-one out.
The place is watersports nirvana.
Stopped at Minnie water on the way home. Speed sailors heaven on low tide.
