I am heading up to Coffs for a week and was wondering if anyone has any local knowledge they could share?
I'll assume waves? Not much around for flatwater in coffs area proper.
this time of year prob NE & southerlies.
there is a run down on the nsw wavesailing website - www.nswwavesailing.org - down the bottom I think.
essentially head to flat top (woolgoolga). SW or S prob best. NE as well but doesn't get the same swell size. Flat top I wouldn't recommend by yourself unless you are competent in the surf. If it's windy there may be some kiters out. It can be a bit lonely there, no-one around. It's so quiet, hardly any surfers either. A bit tricky to find as well, but don't be dissuaded, it's def worth it. Check out the photos on my profile.
NE X-on at Park beach, easy to access at south end carpark.
3rd/Wenoona Head (south of Coffs) blasts in NE & Nambucca area can be sailed off the river promenade in a southerly. Apparently really sharky but you're off the water right!
good surf as well at diggers although that and north end of park beach (McCAuleys?) prob get the most surfers but compared to Sydney there is no way you could ever call it crowded.
anyway, great area, heaps to do
