Going to be up in Coffs Harbour over the long weekend, looks like some wind, from the SSW. Anyone else sailing around there? Woolgoolga is just up the road, are there any regular spots closer to town?

For S winds try the north side of the flat top island. Access is from high st (I think) drive past the retirement village and turn right down the road towards the water treatment plant until you hit dirt - this road finishes in a little car park next to the creek giving you access to the water. Note that NSW Marine Parks are quite protective and the island and a 200m exclusion zone are off limits. Watch out for nesting birds in the sand dunes.
If NE winds try the southern side of the flat top island - access via Hearns lake road. Watch out for strange characters drifting down the river after a overnight bender on magic mushrooms.

There are a few breaks closer to Coffs - Park beach I think might be sailable

Few places around

And given I sail alone almost everytime I go out I tell you what I know about a SSW :

Flat Top Woolgooga as suggested
South end Sawtell main beach, high tide probably best otherwise a bit shallow on the nice flat inside bit
Gallows, immediatly south of Coffs Harbour, cross off, long rides, bit of a shadow too close to the harbour hill (not Mutton Bird, the south Hill). Not usuallly many surfers out if it is windy
Sandy Beach, north end, pretty well same as Flattop, but not as good for sailing
Arrawarra (further out than Woolgooga) (follow signs to Arrawarra Headland, not Arrawarra), needs bigger swell for waves and you will piss off 100 long boarders (unless you are lucky)
Park beach, OK in a NE, never sailed in a southerly, but I reckon the far north end MaCauley's headland) should be pretty fine on the right day - so long as you don't get too excited and fly off down the line too far until you are stuck right up in the little bay under the headland.

Bet that if you get out you will be on your own. If you aren't then let me know and I'll delete the above. Don't want to get too crowded. If you see me wave, I'll be sinking on a board that is too small and a sail that is too small, dreaming of the good old days.
