why is it blowing 40 knot southerly at norah heads since 2pm and its still calm at newcastle. i would have thought in three hours it would of made its way up there?
dunk,
I can tell you it was 30-35 knots at North Head this arvo also.
Re Norah Head, that place gets windy and I reckon it is heaps under-sailed in a NE. I have read a comment before that Newcastle harbour and surrounding area is a slightly different atmosphere due to the coal dust etc. Not sure of the technicalities of that but it seems to affect the seabreeze - as for a southerly I'm not sure.
Were you at Norah Head? The wind reader is at the lighthouse so typically over-reads by 5-7 knots.
My educated guess would be cause it was an east coast low and not a cold front pushing up the coast. But then im not very educated either.
I cant believe it felt really windy today, was gusting over 30 knots but had a 5.8m up and was just powered up, whats that about.
Slightly on shore and the wind doesn't seem to have any power but still has the speed, Weird...
Also can anyone explain that no matter what colour T-shirt you wear, the fluff in your belly button is always grey....?????
