Recently returned to the sport after a long break and loving it.
Been sailing the old flat water haunt {Ballina River) trying to hone my skills yet I haven't seen any windsurfers.
I use to enjoy the bump n jump off the pass Byron for the clean NE winds and blue waters and had a few sails at flat rock on my slalom gear.
So if you live in the area and enjoy windsurfing lets be mates!
G'day MDawg,
Great to hear of another local windsurfer. There are a few of us here windsurfing. A couple of us sailed Ballina last night and two days at the Pass last week. Sometimes travel to Yamba or Gold Coast and beyond. Everything from flatwater GPS to waves. Going to sail near the bridge in Ballina this arvo all going well. Hope to see you there. If not shoot me a PM.![]()

Hi, theres a few of us that sail from Brunswick heads when its blowing, we also travel to flat rock now and again.
Hi everybody. I just arrived in the area. I'm from the Netherlands and my family and I are in the emigration process. So hopefully we will stay here for a long time. We're looking for a house, schools for our kids from 9 and 12 years old and I'm looking for windsurf mates! So I'm glad to hear that there are windsurfers around. Perhaps we can make a WhatsApp group?
Robert.
Hi Robert,
Your post was a while ago now. I was wondering whether you managed to sort out the immigration part. I hope you did.
Where do you windsurf around Byron? I'm a Dutchie too (Scheveningen). I'm actually looking for some wave spots here. Kingscliff works well with NE but other than that I have no idea where to go.
Does anybody else know where to go for waves and wind? I often go camping near Yamba, what are the good spots in that area?
Cheers,
Tim

from Ballina...
Flat rock best spot near you - works in south and north wind - now is time for sea breezes, although Monday looks sick strong SW
