Hi Matt.
You will want to look at the forecast for Norah Head and the Hunter. Budgie is generally 5-10kts less than Norah, depending on the wind direction. Unless you're in the area anyway, I think Sunday looks a bit sketchy to travel that far with the peak of the front coming through on Saturday night. Unfortunately, Budgie is somewhat fickle so you just never know... you may get lucky with an epic session or have a massive fail.
It's also exceptionally shallow at the moment and very thick weed that won't clear a standard 40 degree weed fin. I was dragging the bottom last week with a 20cm delta and my MXR UFO was collecting so much weed I couldn't use it. So you'll need some small delta fins.
Sat arvo and Sun morning look to be your best chance for a good session. Personally, I'd leave it for a more certain forecast.
Distance isn't really too much of an issue ... a good long drive never hurt !
I do have a 16 Delta ... which is a pretty terrible fin, so some weed isn't too big an issue. It does looks like I will need to be there Saturday lunch time !
... given it is a lake, I gather it is BYO bug spray. ![]()

Nope, but you'll need thick skin. Budgewoi has a few nasty bindis
Canton might be a better bet.
Canton Beach is great in a strong southerly, the more south to the SW the better. Here is a little video of windsurfing there from a few years ago in a southerly wind.
Great video .. memories...Probably be choppier now as they cleared a lot of weed out a year or so ago.
Kyeemagh gas station/servo may be the best bet for tomorrow if the rains not too heavy and its a 15-25knot southerly.
