Gday everyone,

With a great looking southerly forecast for this Saturday (25th January) Marmong Point Sailing Club is going to run Heat 3 of the Brown Dog GPS Series.

The event will be help from the club, on George St, Marmong Point. Obviously wind dependent, but as soon as the wind is suitable we will start the Hour any time after 11am, so be there by then.

The southerly funnels down the lake perfectly towards Marmong giving a huge area for sailing. The rolling swell can also be a lot of fun, with some nice speed available running deep downwind in the flat troughs.

As with the past two heats, the Freerace format is simple.
- Everyone launches at the same place
- Sail as fast and as far as you can anywhere during a specific hour.
- Whoever has the highest average speed over the Hour, is the winner.

Some people find it faster to do long runs without many gybes, while others prefer shorter runs in flatter areas. There's plenty of options and variables to make it interesting and challenging.

Entry is free for existing MPSC members, or only $50 for new sailors, which includes a discounted membership to the club and the Australian Windsurfing Association.

SERIES PRIZES!!!
1st - $150 restaurant voucher at Brown Dog Warners Bay
2nd - $75 restaurant voucher at Hippo Espresso Cafe Warners Bay
3rd - SUP lesson for 1 person thanks to Kite And Sup Newcastle

In addition to these prizes, everyone who enters goes into the Lucky Door Prize Draw. Prizes include $75 restaurant voucher from Hippo Espresso, and multiple prizes from Exocet and Mauisails thanks to The Windsurfing Shed.

Thanks again to Series Sponsors
- Brown Dog Restaurant
- Hippo Espresso - hippoespresso.com/
- Kite and SUP Newcastle - www.kiteandsup.com.au/ (for North/ION/Fanatic gear)
- The Windsurfing Shed - www.thewindsurfingshed.com.au/ (for Exocet/Mauisails/Streamlined/Powerex/Unifiber gear)

See you Saturday at 11am!

James

I forgot to mention earlier that if the wind is still good after the 1 hr freerace session, we will put out a few buoys/marks and run some slalom racing. So even if you don't want to enter the freerace, come along for some slalom blasting afterwards.

Thanks to everyone who came today. Wind started off light, but filled in to around 12-15 knots, so we made the call to run the 1 hr from 12:15-1:15pm. By the end of the hour the gusts were well over 20 knots.

Congratulations to Byron for edging Remi out for the win by 0.12 knot - after 1 hr, they were effectively separated by 110 metres (41.42km vs 41.3km). Good to see Remi and Chris Bel29 come up for the day.

Preliminary Results below - still waiting on a few people for their data. Will post series standings once I have everyones info.

Thanks again to the sponsors, especially Remi who delivered an armful of lucky door prizes today! These will be drawn at the last event, hopefully some time in February.

great to catch up with the Marmong crowd again. great conditions for powered up slalom/speed racing. unfortunately I had to abandon the race after less than 10min into the hour after a run-in with local fishermen :( hope to be back next week for more racing.

Great event, thanks Marmong Club for organising. Marmong is a great spot in a Southerly, choppy but can still pick a line between the chop to put the foot down as opposed to Botany.

Well done Byron, it was great to sail with everyone.
