JUst reading an american windsurfing magazine when i noticed a a readers letter with a photo of us lot racing at Botnay!

Ahhhhhhhhhh....

Thems were the days , summer , nor-easter , cruisin' & racin' out of Kyeemagh

Hang on ...that was only a couple of months ago...before the desal pipeline

Im pretty sure Tim sent that letter in to US Windsurfing.
I saw the mag too. Although it was in the newsagency as they are too bloody expensive these days. .

I made it to a few of those sessions and it seemed to drop off the closer it got to 5pm. I think in one of them I managed a 3rd after rigging up a formula board as a spare and when the wind had dropped off it was just the right size.

On the other hand there was a day when everyone was overpowered and I was just happy getting back to shore. The same afternoon a guy had his rig disconnect from his board and he pretty much became invisible floating in the water with all the whitecaps around.

it was hit and miss for a few early races. with some of the race being a slog and some being a mental hold on in the same two laps. Great fun all the same, I think the Xmas race was the best!
The WS US mag editor is really friendly and always keen to hear about and from sailors from the rest of the world.
I got my subsription for $24US last year online.
