What is it lately??
Sweet looking forecast for nor-easters so weekend was organised for Jimmy's Beach at Hawks Nest. Morning looking good, light sea breeze slowly building. No storm activity, no changes in sight and then the wind just doesnt happen. Beautiful sunny day, crystal clear water etc. Bugger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still this morning was beautiful, paddled right up to the spit (whilst a decent size dorsal fin went the other way thankfully) and past the point to some fun little runners on a sand bank. glassy conditions, sweet!! Stinking hot strong NW on the F3 then at Narrabeen its east at 5 knots. WTF?????????????

Yesterday it looked like there was a big fog bank out to sea until about 3pm.

Yeah the weather is quite strange this weekend. Sea mists covered the northern beaches in the morning yesterday and today. Its no consolation to you but a reasonably strong but gusty seabreeze came through on Saturday afternoon in Sydney. Maxed out on a 6.6m sail at Kyeemagh.

Right now we are at Narrabeen Lake. There is basically no wind at all. However earlier on there seemed to be a strong northerly up in the hills. A bit of drifting around on the lake.

Well yesterday was perfect forecast. Went to Narrabeen at 1, my kids tried sailing with their small 3m kit on my big board for over an hour. They want to go again !

Then it came steady for 2 hours of perfect sailing for dad with the 7.

The joy of having a sore body again and a happy smile from the many runs.

And it was only on the bloody lake.

Hey Grant, there appears to be a lot of discussion around the world on climate change.

As a long term windsufferer on the northern beaches of Sydney, I think that there must be something to it!

Bondi has been blanketed by sea fog 3 times this week. Really weird as its hung around til the afternoon dispute a reasonably strong nor'easter.

It did happen during the day...I hit the water at 530am and sailed till about 830, in the pissing rain, by myself and the mercy of the elements haha...and it was sick! Not many people stupid enough to go windsurfing at that hour but hey, take what you can get and all that...surf was pretty messed up though given the wind all night. Also the lagoon at my local in the Gong was flowing into the ocean so I sailed from the CARPARK (basically) into the open ocean...never done that before haha, gold.

A NE breeze blew pretty hard this arvo at Kyeemagh. However the water was disgusting. Heaps of rubbish in it, the water from the river was a brown colour. It had a nasty smell too. I gave up after a short sail.

Lake Macquarie isn't too bad where I sail but I do give sharks more of a thought when I'm lying in the water kicking my legs waterstarting when it's muddy ..

Well the result exceeded the forecast here today in the gong, so hopefully that's a good sign for the week. It's been 30-40+kts since about 830, maxed out on a 4.2 and I mean maxed the heck out. Epic weed in the lake though

Sailed there (from Winda Woppa) this Sat & Sun - only saw dolphins & a huge turtle.
But you do tend not to see any of the men in the grey suits.

Beautiful 14-18 kt N/E Sat arvo after the rainy morning, water good and clean with a tiny bit of ribbon weed. Not enuff to go back & get a weedy.

Sunday honkin' gusty (to 28-30 kts) NNW. Over powered after getting out of land wind shadow, then 3ft waves/chop out in the middle.

Top spot - esp in N/E

+1 for the gong, lake Illawarra turns it on again.

Only one problem, I've rocked up and my first thought...."I wish I owned a 4.2"....I've started to rig, only to discover my 4.7 was back home So I had to rig my 5.0 and put up with 40 knot gusts. It did settle a bit and the rest of the day was good on a Maxxxed 5.0 until it died of completely.

Westerlies in the Illawarra
