Just off the phone with the Desal Hotline for my monthly update.
If you have passed recently you will see that the access off the beach is pretty good again with the 'cut off' rope being removed....
Access is fine from the Northern end however is best from about the concrete ‘slide’ (no better description, drain pipe) ½ way between to Northern and Southern ramps.
The area at the Northern end of the bay (old shark net pool area thingy)will still be in use by the pipe layers till November at this stage. They need pump back into the wharf area all the bottom (mud) that was removed to accommodate the pipe badge. This will be a similar area to that which what was out of bounds last Jan/Feb.
They forecast that all ‘on water’ activities will be completed by the end of November 2009.
It appears that our poo, crap faced, down trodden lack of wind this winter has actually helped with the pipe laying progress.![]()
Good New's Tim.
Thanks for keeping us all informed.
BTW I understood what you meant by concrete ‘slide’ not a bad description actually.
Bring on Spring!!!
I read in the local paper recently where they are now talking about a new electricity feed is going to be built from Kurnell across the bay. They are burying it using water jets, but I couldn't tell from the article if it will impact on the use of the bay.
I think its my fault really, i brought some new gear that hasnt seen the water yet becuase if the lack of wind, however if i buy a sup its bound to get windy. WS&S make a fourtune out of me. My poor missus, everytime i buy a new bit of gear she see's her wedding getting further away. Please can we have some wind so i stop buying gear.
Time is ticking for you too David, think how little they'll get used once Lou drops her bundle....just ask Sam ![]()
Right, it might be my fault too. I packed my wife and newborn son off home to Ireland so I could get some time on the water....seems I may have picked the wrong month to send them. Bought an SUP at the weekend too so all in all it's been a VERY expensive month
I think i'll have to pick and choose my windsurfing days for a while until the baby is a bit older. I'm looking forward to family weekends away to the beach with the Formula series. Looks like little Parker will have a friend soon.
Small update:
Popped in on the way home from WindSurfnSnow today. The bay's looking pretty clear. There is still a ring of yellow buoys and a small floating boom that you can't see in the picture. You can sail from the north ramp, but you'd have to bear away for 50-100m. Like Tim said in the first post, the concrete slide is probably still the best spot.
Roll on the NEers!
Drove past on way to Ramsgate last Sunday, & you couldn't move at the north end there
with all the picnickers![]()
.
Maybe southern part of Kyeemagh or Ramsgate
(don't tell the formula boys I told you![]()
)
I attended a Sydney Ports Corporation meeting this morning and they said they desal pipe laying was complete, so can't be too long til they move along.
They also gave a presentation on the new berth construction and the new boat ramp on foreshore drive will be completed and ready next month.
"Speaking of Westerlies, today looked like a ripper, did anyone get out? "
Got out at la perouse for a couple of hours, got overpowered around 4. Shoulda taken the small gear, it got pretty strong for little while.
A lot colder than maui this time of year.![]()
It's been like this most of the time while you were away, 25-30kts just about every day...warm wind too..![]()
