Went down to Belmont Slips today to find there is now a huge steel gate barring car access to the rigging area. The only parking available now is the small asphalted carpark up the top. There are two padlocks on the gate presumably one for council access and the other for the slipyard?

Shame, was one of the closest car to water spots around. Still not too bad plenty of parking up top for around 30 cars and we don't have to pay like the poor buggers in Victoria and some Sydney spots.
The idea behind the gate being installed is to try and limit antisocial night time behaviour, and discourage illegal dumping at the foreshore
That really sucks...This was one of the best rigging and launching areas on the Lake. Need to find out if it will be open during the days of summer? Surely it can't be closed 24/7?
