i am guessing you have never been to bondi

it must be one of the worst beach in Australia

before you hit the water
*there are too many ppl
*the parking is a joke and really expensive
*there is so much crime - pick pocket , race fight ( nice way to say lot of middle eastern large groups picking fight with 1 or small groups ), theft (car and personal)
*Huge police present
*they have patrol of parking and and ticket monkeys on every corner
* the food in the area is expensive

When you in the water
first of all bondi is in a cove , so if you do find a spot with no ppl you can look forward to:
*schools of fish follow my sharks ( they have the most shark spotting is NSW )
* there are normally 4 set of rips ( they plant the flags between the largest gap in the middle ) in 2004 the beach was rank (7) hazard beach with it famous "Backpackers' Express" or "backpacker rip"

in order where i go
bronte, tamarama , coogee , maroubra
I rather get on the ferry get go to manly then bondi

But you want to get notice windsurfing and there filming bondi rescue good luck
please note you wont find anywhere better selection of bikini and eye candy [}:)]

Cheers Billyboy. Now it all makes sense to me! No wonder I don't see anyone out.

100% agree with the Eye Candy, though my usual preference for that is at Bronte or Tamarama!

there are a few people sailing at Bondi in Southerlies... mainly during the week though. Parking is a pain... but to be honest if you live in the area there aren't too many good options in a Southerly.

Coogee is do-able in Southerly. The break of Wedding Cake can be ok but the live guards are pretty stricked about sticking to the surf craft area for launching.

Clovely can also be good but the launch of the rocks there is pretty iffy. Getting back in even more so. I probably wouldn't dare to do it in a big swell.

Maroubra is too gusty in a Southerly for my liking.

I think as far as Southerlies and wave sailing goes nothing beats Newport or Long Reef (Makaha etc) assuming there is some swell around.
