what cold, went for a surf today at manly its fine :-)
But thinking of driving down to gerroa for the day. First time, never been there.
Any tips for a first timer, place to rig, things to watch out for? or is it all pretty obvious.
If it's SSW then I'll probably do Kyeemah after lunch or if the swell is working at Dolls Point, that could be fun. ![]()
I'm off to hire a van now, should be at Kyeemagh by 11am. Bit chilly - but back in England the rule was to go out as long as the temperature was above zero, so it's positively balmy compared to that...
Excellent, will get packed and head down towards Kyeemah.
Above zero Sparky? We used to have to break the ice at the edge of the lake in N Wales before getting in...but I was younger and the suits were thicker!
Break the ice ?
We used to dream of breaking the ice.
We had to defrost the toothpaste before we could get up.
That's nothing - I didn't want to brag but in reality we only didn't go if the diesel in the van was frozen... Etc...
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the wind is touch and go at Kyeemagh right now - at a guess 7kn average with the occasional gust up to 12-15. A bit better far out but I'm the only one here so not going too far
Went to Ocean Beach, Umina at 1pm expecting something as it was coming from the SW but it was so up and down plus a lot more west in it than I would like, so I just sat and watched for 20 minutes. Only thing that happened was it got lighter. Too light to sail. Nice in the sunshine.
Oh well - at least I didn't have to wash anything.
Maybe next time.
Made it out to gerroa, a little underpowered on my 5.5. Would have been perfect if a could sail better... Left the 6.5 in the car, would have been too much work in the white water for me. Nice place to sail!
Dont worry besty bud, im heading down from up north for a sailing session later this month, Dolls, Gerroa, La pa Kurnell whatever; its going to be good to be back
