Hi All,
I was out sailing yesterday and realised my older Isonic 97 has an issue (soft deck) that will probably get much worse if I continue to use it without addressing the issue properly. I am about to start my summer break and was hoping to get lots of sailing in. I was just reaching out to see if anyone has a board laying around they never use anymore and never got around to selling that I could buy/borrow? I have not got the budget to lay down thousands on a new board at the moment. Ideal would be a slalom/freerace board in 90-110L range with tuttle box but happy to consider anything that will get me on the water.
Oh... I am in Sydney, but happy to drive a couple hours away.
Cheers,
Adrian
I have the perfect board for you if you don't mind a slightly longer one.
Bic FV-1S 102litres, 59 wide 278 long Tuttle box. Sail sizes up to 7m. It served me well sailing at Kyeemagh for many years. It was such a good board that the local fastest sailor, Fast Phil, wanted to buy it from me.
Carbon construction still strong and light. Tell me if you think it might suit.
Thanks Mr Milk. It sounds like your board is from the era before boards got shorter and wider. I have fairly modern sails I use (NP V8 2023 in 6.2/7.2). Not sure it will work well with my sails. I will try to find a more recent option first, but will contact you if I can't. I just need to get on the water really.
Someone is selling cheap on facebook a Fanatic Falcon 89 (with a nose repair). I believe it would be 2012/2013 vintage which is similar to my Isonic. A little less volume, lower width and more length but similar sail range (5.0-7.8). I will try to grab that on the weekend. Would be good to have a spare for times like this. Hopefully it can take the 7.2 OK. I expect it will need a bit more wind to get going, but may have a benefit in higher winds.
So I will grab that and see how that works, and that should get me through the summer break. If not, I will ping you about the Carve George.
Thanks for the offers guys. It is much appreciated!
So I have a Fanatic Falcon 89 U got cheap. It is bpretty banded about with a major nose repair, but it appears to be solid and should sail fine. Not sure if the 10L less volume will work for me or not. Typically I have recently sailed in stronger conditions, so hopefully it will be OK.
Unfortuantely I am sure you are all suffering with the same issue I have now... no wind!!
I've got a near not new Exocet RS4 111L you can borrow or buy! See my ad.
Hey Berowne,
Thanks for the reply and sorry for being slow in response. I was mostly offline for my 2 week break.
I can't find the add for your RS4. Is it still for sale?
I did get a sail in at Budgie on the Falcon 89L. It was pretty good. Definately feels smaller than my Isonic 97. Gonna need more wind to use it.
I've decided to try and locate a new board a little larger than my Isonic 97.... looking for a Slalom/Freerace around 110L in good condition and modern design to suit modern sails (I use NP V8 2023). Not much around I can see. Please let me know if you are aware of anything.
I will also attempt to repair the Isonic. That will leave me with slalom boards in around 90/100/110L. I don't have a van to travel with, so will have to select the right board before I leave!
