Hi,
after a fail forecast on Friday evening I am thinking about heading to Botany tomorrow (19.01) in the early morning around 6.30am. Are there other people who go there (that early) on a week day? Would be nice not to be the only one on the water.
Also, with a SSE would you rather recommend to go to Kyeemagh to the car park or to further south to the Shell station for extra space and longer runs?
Cheers!
Went to the Shell station and unfortunately was the only one. Quite choppy with some white wash. Got better though when the tide started going down around 9. Wind was quite consistent. Was on a 7.0 and 111 fsw, overpowered but did not want to rig a second sail. Would recommend to go today if you have the chance and the wind does not drop.
PM me if anyone is an early riser as I was a bit lonley out there.![]()
I don't know why, but for some reason I just can't get my head around sailing before midday. Silly, because I used to go surfing at dawn. Maybe it's from years of mental association with the afternoon seabreeze.
I'm also usually not someone who gets up early, but its just a question about motivation. What about tomorrow in the afternoon from 5pm ish onwards? 25 knots and no rain are looking really good! Might be able to give my 5.0 its first run. I think I will launch again opposite of the Shell station.
Might not be the best water quality after the massive amounts of rain today and yesterday. Does anyone have a view on water quality and an alternative place where to take advantage of the S/SSW tomorrow?
I'm going to try lake illawarra, then failing that, windang gerroa and sanctuary point. Are any of the Gustbusters heading out tomorrow?
