Rain permitting I'm hoping to get a sail. Not sure where at the moment .
If it's a nuking SE as predicted probably Marmong so long as there aren't too many holes.. Otherwise either end of Coal if not too radical or Wambal Park north side of Coal Pt. ( that way if anything goes wrong I get washed ashore).
After a few gear failures off the end of Coal I'm not real keen on going out there in 30kts+ by myself..
Anyone else? Not sure of the time probably c 10am..At the moment the rain is supposed to set in in the afternoon..

Not real keen on the slip.Always mega chop when I've been there and if anything goes wrong in a SE you'd end up on the other side of the lake... I've got a feeling that it will be gusty which means using my big board for the lulls and that will be horrible in big chop..
Are you going out at the slip?

Yes, I'll be at the slips. re the chop
If there is alot of east in the breeze, the chop is normally ok.

How was it? I went to Coal.. either c 10 - 20kts or 25 kts - 30 odd in rain squalls. .. flopped around on the little board ( 95) ok in gusts but 'fun' trying to uphaul in slop when the wind died.. Got a reasonable 20 mins with 5.8m + 125 but stuck close to shore in case the 30kts came back..

I gave up on marmong yesterday due to the wicked S/SE/E cross chop that is going on down there at the moment. I racked my brains and remembered cockle bay down between speers point and teralba sailing clubs. There's a bit less wind there but it got me into some smooth water that was much more enoyable. The trick to that spot is that it's only open to the SE, the Southerly and easterly wind blown chop doesn't get in there. I dont mind big waves, just not from 3 different directions at once lol.

I went out today in the same spot, firstly on my JP 68 with a 6.2 overdrive, a little out of control so I switched to my 56 wide slalom, it was great unitl the wind died dammit lol Long swim in and I was shagged by the time I got in. The wind filled it again so I jumped back on the 68 wide but I was too stuffed to do much lol.

Tomorrow I'm thinking of maybe launching at the park near swansea gardens caravan park and hitting the channel and/or sand islands. There's been a lot of east in this breeze so hopefully it will be ok.

So I'm not the only one that suffers from this.. I'm not much of a swimmer and after swimming the gear in yesterday I was too tired to sail much ( I was really tired before I went sailing..) Pity as it wasn't bad when you selected the right gear.
I had a look at Marmong at 9.30am and it was just a few puffs of breeze. I've rarely seen it with decent consistent wind..but that may be that if there is I'm already at Valentine.Coal had some big chop in close..great for jumps but I was too tired or the conditions didn't suit.
Give me a Pm if you are going sailing midweek..you can tell it's autumn winds the lake is empty!

What about sailing from belmont 16ft, the left hand side of the club. plenty of grass & no boats unless its saturday. U maybe out of the big crazy chop but sail across into it & SE E wind should be a good angle. wangi boat ramp may have some wind funneling between the land & pulba island. nothing but work for me till next weekend, darn it.

Probably be in a bit of a lee at the start so you'd need a big board. Off the end of the point near Wangi caravan park would probably be ok in a SE.
Don't think you'll miss much. I think the rain will be wrecking things anyway..Glad I went out. Enjoyed the last 20mins but too tired to keep out.
Bring on the W's and Canton!

Somebody must have read this, There was 5 guys out at this very spot today. The weather was still horrible but I really nailed a few laydown gybes. It was worth going out just for that
