haven't sailed for a few weeks ALTHOUGH got almost 2 hours of mod SE and 1-2 metre waves off white rock yesterday. I didn't manage to force the usual Manly ferry pics from the Manly daily but it would have been good to see some others enjoying the conditions as well.
i guess it was a weekday, raining, mirky water, a bit cool...great w-surfing weather!
White rock is a good option if the wind is more ESE. Its a funny wave that drops out suddenly but quite fun. You can take off really close to the rocks and bottom turn under the lip but the top turn can be very soft - kick out early to avoid the wind shadow.

it's straight out from fisherman's beach ('brownwater') at Collaroy and called 'white rock' because you can see a white rock at dee why headland when you take off - according to Nat Young. Whatever is the case it's been called that for as long as I can remember.
As Tim said it's a strange sort of wave and quite tide affected. Can be sailed in S/SE/ESE. Usually I go out to Little Makaha which is the actual Long Reef point in S/SE.
White rock in my opinion is the best sailing spot in Sydney when it's ESE. Usually that wind direction means rain and inconsistent wind. It's great there because it is one of the few places in that direction with waves and the wind accelerates across the flat rock platform. You can sail within an arm's length of the platform and then rip down the waves.
