Bring your wally, longboard, formula board, Ypsi Wayler, TC Runner or whatever - all boards welcome

teams of up to 8 people - sail as much or as little as you like - two separate courses to cater for all skill levels

Demo gear to try throughout the day

mini races to be held during the day - including (possibly) the first running of the Kazoo Match Racing World Championships (subject to ratification)

BBQ at the end of the day

all proceeds will be used to boost the clubs junior equipment

Hi,

I used to live in Primbee and sailed at yacht club and off Primbee so I know the area reasonable well. Primbee in the winter westerlies and sometimes the NEers in the summer when the slalom races were run. I remember you blitzing us.

What sort of course are we looking at? Triangles or reaches in figure eights?

If its not possible to create a team before hand, can teams be ad hoc teams be created on the day of miscreants crawling out from under rocks at unlikely locations?

OK Karl (Moby)....

does that mean I have to get the TC Spacer down off the garage wall.

I think it may take a modern sail with a bit of creative use of extensions.

Who else wants to join in - c'mon, you know you wanna.

local knowledge!!! thats almost cheating!!!

the 2 courses will generally have some upwind component in them, and we are looking at one up in the bay (which is likely to have a limited amount of upwind in it because of the size of the bay) and one in the lake (which is likely to have alot more upwind in it).

the idea of the bay lap is that anyone should be able to sail it regardless of skill level (and the lake lap offering a bit more for the more keen)

and, if we get lucky and we get a building NE it should be reasonably easy to tackle the bay on a slalom board when it gets windy enough despite the upwind bit.

we definately will put teams together on the day if you haven't been ingested by then, so definately don't let that stop you coming along!!!!

Sailing for 8 hours? How many beer breaks are involved, and will they run out sausages and steaks to you with the beer?

I'll be impressed if you can organise a 18 knot NE for the whole day. Count me in!

I'm not sure if I can make it. If I'm in the country on that day I'd be keen to take part in this.

I assume this is still on. Who's going?

There may be wind forecast. What's with that?

event was run, won and a great success - feedback was fantastic and looks like the format might have potential - definately run again next year (with some tweaks to make it even better)

first 2 hours were run in a ugly lightish nor-wester but allowed the longboards to get ahead, beginners/novices to have a crack and a lot of demo-ing of SUPS from WindSurfnSnow

then the NE came in for a delightful remaining 6 hours.

third place was the Pink and Purple Pokadotted Rubber Duckies - aka the youngun's on a mixture of longboard, wallys, rsx and formula

second place was the UnderDacs with a impressive 21 laps all on longboards

first was the Nelson Ninja's with 24 laps on a mix of longboard, formula and slalom boards

awesome day with a few diehards dining out at the club afterwards
