This year's championship is once again being held at Sanctuary Point over the weekend of December 17th & 18th. The championship has a maximum of 10 races over the two days and has normally a great mixture of light wind tactical races and high speed dragathons.

The Notice of Race is posted on www.raceboards.net.au - look under the top menu for "Regattas" > "2016/17 Regattas" > "2016 NSW Raceboard Championship".

The key point from the NOR are:

$50 entry fee, paid at registration on the Saturday. We will be using a micro-EFTPOS system so bring along your plastic.
Ten races maximum with the first drop at 5 races and a second drop at 9 races.
Three sails (maximum) are allowed.
Registration from 0830, briefing at 1030, and first possible race at 1130.

Nick Nelson is making a guest appearance as RO, so all the on-water stuff is in good hands.

With all the excitement of the Worlds still present it should be a great show of all the new found race skills and mental toughness!!

Also note that the regatta counts as Round 5 of the NSW Raceboard Series.

Look forward to seeing you all there .

Just a heads up for competitors - the guys who were at the Slalom event last weekend reported that there is quite a lot of weed in the Sanctuary point area, so remember to pack your weed fin. Hopefully the situation improves by the coming weekend.

Ok quick question, I don't have a weed fin, ? May not be able to get one prior to the weekend, would it be a complete waste of time trying to sail with a standard fin....

It is hard to predict what the actual weed situation will be! I would turn up and give it try with what you have. You might be able to borrow a weedie at the event anyway. Although it is not ideal dragging weed, raceboard are less sensitive to weed as compared to slalom and formula boards.

No worries, thanks for that, have managed to get hold of a fin, now off to get some 120mm bolts to suit

Another great weekend of raceboarding with 7 races out of a possible 10 being completed. Competitors were greeted with a inconsistent westerly wind on Saturday making for some fast races and some slow races! The gated bottom mark course made finishing tactics interesting with gybing skills at a premium.
Fortunately the weed problem encountered by the Slalom crew the week before was not really an issue - some competitors successfully chose an upright fin for the races.

Sunday's wind was a light S to SE with the occasional planing gust. Picking the correct side of course and looking for the gusts was essential for a good result.

In the final wrapup Lea Sitja, from Sydney was awarded the NSW Raceboard Championship with consistent sailing at the sharp end of the fleet. Chasing hard was defending Champion James Grunfelder followed by Justin Lord. First lady was Lissa McMillan.

A big thanks to Nick Nelson and John Riggs for looking after the on water details and Neil McKinlay for supplying the boat. Also thanks to Sam at WindSurfnSnow for supporting the event with well received prize vouchers.
