The 9th Pan Pacific Masters Games will be held from 1 to 9 November 2014 on the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
More than 12,000 participants from Queensland, interstate and overseas are expected to converge on one of the world's most popular holiday destinations to compete in one of Australia's premier multi-sport events.
The world's largest biennial masters games will showcase competition in more than 40 sports including a vast array of team sports such as netball, softball and baseball as well as individual sports including athletics, archery and taekwondo.
Participants compete in their age group with no qualifying standards or times to enter. The only criteria for entry is a minimum age for each sport.
All sports are located in close proximity to the Games Village at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach which becomes an exclusive hub for competitors.
The event is a celebration of masters sport with both fierce and friendly competition including a jam-packed entertainment program at the Games Village each night.

Just wondering what class in racing there. They say windsurfer (probably class which makes sense) but show the Techno which is a youth class.
Couldn't find too much on line to say for sure.
Sam.

Hi Sam,
The regatta is open to all “off the beach” dingy, multi hull, windsurfer and Hansa classes.
All information can be found in the Notice of Race: mastersgames.com.au/ppmg/wp-content/uploads/sites/1/2013/11/PPMG14-Sailing-Notice-of-Race-NOR.pdf

Looking at the schedule not sure if there are any wind limits etc, so might not be windy enough for formula. Maybe you could register formula, slalom, and longboard? Or maybe its just "Windsurfer" / wally class?
Hard to believe 30+ is classed as a master. Makes me feel old!
As per the Notice of Race we have opened the whole event to all classes so as to boost numbers rather than leave possible competitors out and as far as racing is concerned. Therefore all windsurfing craft will be accepted. Scoring will be by normal yardstick.
For the finer details of the windsurfing competition please contact the Sailing competition organiser John: ppscinc@bigpond.com Phone: +61 (0)407 145 397

Hmm. Good luck with your Yardstick - cause you'll need a few of them! And apart from the VYC's Rating for the Windsurfer OneDesign (WOD), I doubt any exists for other sailboard 'one designs'. Perhaps there exists a rating for the 'Mistral Competition'? Comparing the performance of sailboards across 5 to 25 knt wind range would be very difficult if you want to give a fair result.
And the VYC only compares the WOD to other sailing dinghy's, skiffs, cats, and does not take into account that WOD pump downwind. It must assume a regatta with a range of conditions I guess, because the LASER dinghy and WOD have a very similar rating. Although a Laser will easily outsail a WOD to windward in light winds; a WOD beats a Laser to windward in fresh winds etc.
Whatever - the result will be a lottery - dependant upon your choice of equipment or one design class - even before you get there. I think these 'masters' events are mostly about getting as many competitors as possible, having a fun time, AND making a good profit for the organising entity.
Actually, an 'all invited' event like this, with all sailboards starting together, at the same time, over the same course, over several races, could be useful to establish some comparable sailboard ratings. Assuming you get lots of entries
