It is a little under two weeks until the much-anticipated 2012-13 Severne Sails Teams Event! Who will reign supreme from the windsurfing regions of NSW? Typically we have teams made up along the lines of North Coast, Northern Beaches, Southside, South Coast and the Frenchies/Euros! It is a team event where you claim your best wave ride before coming in and tagging a team-mate.
Of course if there is no wind this will revert to a SUP competition.
Saturday evening will also be the end of year party, prize giving for the 2012-13 Season winners and of course a raffle for the JP SUP thanks to WindsurfnSnow.
There will also be the Annual General Meeting where you get the opportunity to voice your views on the Association and help to elect some new committee members. Please consider if you are interested in helping to continue the growth of our Association and sport by being part of the committee.
Committee Positions that will be vacated are:
President / Treasurer / Media & Marketing
Thanks as always to our excellent sponsors who have been extremely supportive this year.
Looking forward to competing and celebrating a great season!!!
For people out there that haven't been to our Teams Event, I thought the following information might be useful. It is a really open, fun and also slightly competitive wave event. Ultimately it is the best way for you to try a NSWWA event where you will be placed in a team (from your region and as such you should know some of the faces) and your team mates can explain how the whole thing works including competition/heat strategy.
The format depends on the wind/wave situation but ideally it is:
Teams Event over 1-2hrs (depending on how many we people we get)
Typically golden oldies/kids/women score a higher multiplier on their wave score - to encourage participation.
Teams are organised on the beach and judges set up, they don't usually compete (to keep it fair).
One member from each team heads out and has an opportunity to score a wave and jump.
If you think you've had a cracking, can't be bettered wave you claim it by sticking your hand up. The number of waves you get to claim depends on wind strength.
Once you have claimed the right number of waves you come in, tag your team mate, give them your rashvest and they head out.
It's then a correlation of the wave scores.
It is a lot of fun! We (Northern Beaches) have hired a house and are getting some practice in - not because we're super serious but it's a great excuse to get out and down to Gerroa!
The day is finished with the awesome end of season BBQ and beers.
The cost for people that haven't signed up for the season is $30 which covers your entry fee, insurance, BBQ and beers.
If you have been thinking of competiting this season or previous seasons but weren't 100% sure about it all, then this is the the best way to experience it!
Cheers
PS - sorry about the
- I don't know how to do bullet points! PPS a lot of the format can change on the day due to the wind and wave situation...
Everything is looking good for the weekend. BBQ house for the AGM has been organised. I'm bringing down some prizes and the 8'10" JP SUP to raffle/auction.
Looking forward to an end of competition season hit out with everyone!!
Cheers

NSW WA El Presidente![]()
Judges should make a call in that Thursday night. We have had some good sessions lately. But the real controversy leading up to the event is that a certain south coast team have recently been caught with Stilnox and Redbull!! Apparently prescribed by a doctor.....
Also team Europe are being investigated for 'tanking' last year and the Wanda team were banned for match fixing in 2009.
Only team Nthn Beaches has remained free from bringing the sport into disrepute and their time is due.....![]()
Yes.... we do have a team! Lets just say we will be our own version of the 4 Nations! although we don't have a Scotsman yet.
Plus we have been doing some secret training with a certain JP representative (ok he let us sail near him as long as we didn't get in the way)
This Sounds like a fun!!! . Do you have to pre pay or can I just turn up? .. had an injury today, and not sure how ill be shaping up by the weekend
