OK James has kindly lent me his GT31..now I've got to work out how to use it..I checked out the owners manual through google.
b hell! You need a degree to drive things these days!
I don't have a USB cable or battery charger so how do I charge the batteries and upload data..for data I just put the memory card in the slot of my computer ..?
How do most of you use them? To start with I just want to have it tell me the max speed I did on a run..

You need a cable. Its either a micro or mini USB cable, micro I think. These cables are pretty common though if you have not got one you have not got one. Get one. Dick Smith will sell them but they will be expensive from there. Any local computer shop should have one for a more reasonable price.

I guess the GPS is already set up so its simply turning it on, waiting for it to get a signal from the satellites and then start moving. When finished turn it off, take the card out, go to KA72.com and upload the data from the card. Its pretty simple.

Before you use it for windsurfing, try it out by walking or driving somewhere with it. See if it works.

These GPSes are better suited for tracking so learn how to use the tracks.

JB Hi fi at Glendale still had 2gb sd cards in stock when I checked a few weeks ago. They had 2 and I bought one of them. I wouldn't wait around I would go get one now as they will eventually become extinct.

Sue, there is a 2GB memory card already installed, and I have set it up with all the settings to just go out and start sailing. I have the charger, cable and CD roms in the box at home. If you decide to keep it I will give them all to you.

It is fully charged so should last you for several weeks of sailing without needing a charge.

So don't stress about the details. Just turn it on, strap it on and go sailing! or even bike riding, would be a good way for you to test the ka72 upload etc.
