Speed Kiters in Namibia are inching ever closer to the outright sailing world record. The record, held by former Naish Windsurfing team rider Finian Maynard, is set at 48.70 knots. Current Naish Kiteboarding team rider Manu Taub was clocked this last week at 46.98 knots over the 500m course. That average puts Taub at #3 all time in speed sailing. Taub is sitting at #2 in Namibia right now with the leader at 47.77 knots; a mere .93 off the record.

Call me old fashioned, but I like the idea that the record is held by a windsurfer. Hopefully one of the boys at SP can put a bit more breathing space between "us" and the kiters over the next few days.

Go Slowy!
