just sort of thought i would draw some attention to slow boats effort yesterday at hardies.
sometimes its easy to just shrug of Chris's sailing as.... "ho hum he got another 38"
as its a very regular thing for him to go out (in mostly less than ideal conditions) and then average speeds that most of us have never seen before.
so i thought his effort yesterday was exceptional, not only for his straight line speed but also for his alphas and hour runs.
like the rest of us,he had to deal with weed through out the course- but he still managed to do a 24kn 1 hr through it all!! this was made even more impressive by the fact he was using an assymetrical fin AND he was stopping regularly to clear the weed from it!!!!
god knows what he would of pulled had he used a fin that was designed for weed and designed for sailing on BOTH tacks
well done mate
here is a link to his efforts

I'm not that happy with Slowey, he shattered by NM, giving me 5 mins of glory

Yes he is amazing, just imagine if he can get motivated to produce a fast 45' weed fin

One day we'll convince him to get a proper weedy, until then we'll happily let the Hardy Handycap system weed weave it's magic.

Mind you a higher tide would have him belting through there unrestrained.

It's good to start seeing the potential of the run starting to be realized, and with the Perth Riff Raff coming down to play with our crabs can not only give us amusement with watching all the weedies coming out but push us harder.

I note Mr snides you went and snuck in a nice quick Nm and dropped me down a peg, well done.

As a final comment.

Yesterday was still not at the Run's best

That only happens on Weekdays

Its a wicked spot for sure. Thanks for the positive comments guys. I was catching a bit of weed, but only when it got really shallow. The assy fin I used has 30 degrees of rake so its quite weed tolerant.

I was really surprised at the 1 hour I ended up with given the number of stops.

Great day sailing with a great crew. Was glad to see Snides and John on the water pulling some great speeds for the team.

Hardie and other crab crew- I really appreciate you guys scoping this place out and marking out the reefs. Thats done wonders for the visitors confidence in taking out favourite fins. Although I did have a moment where I believed I'd destroyed my favourite fin and the bottom of the board on my last run. I hit something very solid that just about catapaulted me. It really felt like a reef. But there wasnt a mark on the fin... Must have been a fish or a ray.

Hanging out for the next mission there. I've got some PBs to destroy.

If I was Martin Van Meurs I'd be a bit nervous right about now after reading that! [}:)]
