Looks very nice. Just tell me the prevailing wind blows from left to right and that the water is warm...

Ahh look I knew Gary was from Eden so put 2 n 2 together and had a look around on GE. Looks great, but how do we get access? Doesn't seem to be a road in from that headland to the east. Do you need to sail downwind from Mallacoota township? I wouldn't be too worried about Pit Crew descending on your new spot though, IT'S MILES AWAY!

Fancy that. The guy who told me to keep it a secret tells the world.

Looks amazing Gary. No weed on those dunes.

Sam.

hy lads there is no weed problem at new speed strip only problem is you need a boat to get there. it seems to work best for speed in west to sw and good fun sailing in south to sw. yes it is mallacoota.

Hey is that Goodwin Sands in the Bottom Lake? I windsurfed that flat water a bit back in the early 90's. I think I mentioned it a couple of times when people were asking about windsurfing in Mallacoota (I lived there for a few years, visited frequently).
Don't need a boat to get there Isaak, I used to sail across from the yacht club.
Awesomely big flathead live in the shallows too.

hey red, great choice - one problem though - you wont want to come back! i lived there for many years, taking sea kayaking tours. 'coota has it all - fishing, surfing kayaking, mtn. biking, diving, and of course windsurfing. all of which are first class. windsurfing options are 1/ on the lower lake: good for anything except easterly. launch out at karbethong on the big grassy bit, and blast away. head over to the large flat goodwin sands, which are only a foot high, and on the other side is a mirror flat speed strip. 2/ the bit near the mouth. great on a sea breeze, which goes over the sandbar creating more flat stuff. watch the tides here, they can rip. also depends where the actual mouth is these days. (it moves) ....

Can't believe it took over 5 years to really notice this place even AFTER Easty highlighted it in a 2005 post. The wind always howls at Gabo Island

Isaac,

You should be over here sweating your a&$ off and drinking Saigon beer instead of freezing your monkeys off

No wind in Vietnam though found some great spots between Mui Ne and Nha Trang.

Actually looking forward to some 12 degree water again.

Southwest winds there on the lake really gusty and shifty but can get quite strong. (Check the mountains in the background).
Sailed and surfed there many times but have never done speed runs. Lake depth varies a lot from season to season. Not usually tidal unless the entrance is fully open. Sandbars come and go with levels.
