Ive had my navi for maybe 2 years now and geting bad data more often, eg i have always had red spikes in the realspeed program and the 2sec peak is often higher on realspeed than on the navi display so i usualy use the display as a ref.
Yesterday at the pit i turned on the navi and left it facing up to the sky for about 20min so it would do what ever it needed to, then reset all the speed menu's,
I usualy just have the max speed window up as im not a serious speed sailor and i have the genie thing off, ok 1st run stoped had a look 126.4 kt max speed, never had bad data showing on the screen before.
So i turned it off and reset all the values and it seemed to behave itself for the rest of the day.
But when I check the data it still has lots of red and even some green that if it was correct i would of been sailing on the sandbar!
So i have done the best i can to post an accurate result for the gps team challenge with my limited knowlege. It would be good if maybe i could send yesterdays files to sailquik for advice.
Im using v1.62 b1115
J ,try this. When going to a new location, turn the navi on,let it find the sats, then turn it off. Turn it back on and sail. The garmin also had the same problem.I think its does a jump from when you last turned it on from to where you are now,but I haven,t had a prob since.
Hi Jman,
I had similar problems until I set my Memory Card -> Log Switch to "On-Fix". I'd bet that yours is set to 'On'.
What happens is that if your GPS doesn't quite know where it is, with On-Fix it won't write data that it knows is bad.
Try it and see if it solves the problem.
Thanks guys, I sent the file to ejmack and also ran it through www.ka72.com/ the results ejmack sent me and the results from the website
almost match exactly, should be safe to update my session on the team challenge with this.
