just a matter of interest, different clubs in the gps team challenge are organizing speed events and obviously its not easy transporting gear to these venues , often to find they missed the wind because every thing had to be prebooked months earlier
has anyone thought about hiring some gear out , the organizers can advertise the gear that's available for hire through this site , obviously there wouldn't be enough gear to cope for a big blow but it would give some of theses guys a chance to show there potential on some really flat water
maybe a few idea's would be good
,
the main problem is a lot of these guys don't have dedicated speed gear ,
with burrum coming up you could book a flight to Hervey bay on the green arrows and take your favorites , ( mast, boom, harness, and two sails ) and hire a board , or just hire the lot when you get there then you don't have to have the problem of excess baggage and booking the stuff in and out
with the westerly's just around the corner at primbee you could fly in to Sydney and depending on traffic you could hire a car and be down in 2hrs ,
post any thoughts ...............................
here
It's not as hard flying with gear as it used to be. You can now buy extra items of luggage when you book online. Saves the stress of turning up at the airport not knowing if they'll take the gear or charge like a wounded bull on excess baggage. Qantas is good, be careful with Jetstar they have a length limit, but they were OK to WA. The train station at Sydney Airport is not too far from baggage collection. Much easier to lug gear to the train than getting it to a hire car.
ok how about the guys that don't have any speed gear because there isn't any flat water at there locol

I haven't got any flat water/nor the wind at my local spot but I still own 2 speed boards for those away trips if you want to go fast buy a speed board you may only get to use it maybe once a year if lucky but it's well worth.

I think it's a great idea. I'd love to do Sandy Point once to see what it's like and how fast I can go, but I only have wave gear and can't invest in speed/slalom gear - too many other hobbies!
