Now that the Mighty Saints have made the grand final I will now be attending the spectacle that is the AFL Grand Final next Saturday in Melbourne. As a result my directions I relied on last year coming down from Sydney will be null and void. Am I stupid to think I can drive across to Sandy Point after the game on Saturday evening or should I hold off till Sunday morning? Accomodation in Melbourne isn't a concern. I just have no idea how long it will take to get to SP from Melbourne that's all and also what the best way is to go. I can use 'where is' but from experience they don't always give you the best way as they don't know potential short cuts.
Any help would be great thanks guys :)
if you go via cranbourne, bass, wonthaggi etc, stop at inverloch. u may find there's no need to go any further unless u dead keen to sail sp. if u keep going u need to take tarwin lower rd, buffalo rd to fish creek, or dunlops and stewarts roads across to waratah rd, but they are a bit dodgy. be aware there are a few roads in that area with similar names that catch peple out. whoever named them should be flogged![]()
otherwise as drjukka said, go via fish creek via sth gippy hwy. its a lttle more pleasant
sailing vic in summer is tops
if u get a chance to sail venus bay it is worth a look. nothing like it in se qld
Whilst I agree with Haircut - go no further than Inverloch
, me thinks with the start of Speed fortnight next weekend Inverloch will be a grave yard as everyone will be heading for the Pit.
That said, Inverloch does give you a great mix of surf, bump and jump and a speed strip albeit small.
Head down the M1 towards Moe. When you get to Moe, don't stop, just keep driving towards Sale. When you get to Sale, you may as well make a real road trip out of it and head towards Merimbula, there'll be less crowds there for sure! ![]()
