Have just upped my wt jacket to 15.3kg. Helps my 71kg body keep the board on the water. Used it the other day and was ok. How heavy are others using? Don't think I will go any heavier though!
thats a fair bit....i bet your not positive bouyant?? even neutral??..assuming your using lead?![]()
i am the same weight and using 9-11 with a life jacket (when the conditions warrant it), and i am about neutral in the water with a wetsuit on.
It took me a fair while to work up to 6 and now I'm working up to 8-10,but I wouldn't like to put my self to sleep on the mast with 10+ on my shoulders![]()
4-6 KG for me. Most I have ever tried was 8KG. Too tiring and throws my balance off too much.
I will be using 4-5 kg on Sunday. Thats what I am used to. They key to a good average is to get plenty of runs in top energy condition. I will be walking back a lot to save energy as well.
Mine is in 2 jackets...1. Prolimit with lead sheet. 2. KA with diving weights.( over the top of Prolimit one.) Have been building up over last 2 seasons, started at 4kg. Shocking to gybe in...offbalance badly. It floats well. So stable when a gust hits.
Curious, I'm thinking of upping my weight on the borad, and short of going amok at the local fastfood joint I thought that adding some fake weight would be the way to go. Curious indeed, how do you strap on the extra weight, belts, wests, backpacks?
I thought initially about wearing a backpack with waterbottles in it, pro's would be neutral boyancy and an 'airbag' kinda feeling if one landed on ones back. Negatives would be the volume and that a backpack night not be the most practical thing to bring on the water.
Any suggestions, how do you guys do it, pictures? :)
Thanks y'all ;)
