Extract from a book I found under the oldies house by Boden & Chater called "The Windsurfing Funboard Handbook". It was my bible when I was a kid and I too dreamed of sailing as fast as Fred Haywood one day. Well dreams can come true ![]()
I had that book, I think it was authored by Jurgen Honsield or something. Also the "complete windsurfing guide" was a good one and magazines like freesail and super glossy SWQ sail wind quarterly...ahh nostalgia.. I them all out when I quit 20 years ago, wish I had kept them.
Same here, I threw all that stuff about around 12 years ago. Jurgen was the bloke who owned or sailed for F2 wasn't he?
Aren't Fred's records over 500 meters? So he got something like 30+ knots for 500 meters? If so its likely his 2 second peak would still be very respectable but perhaps his alpha, hour and distance with the wing would be a bit ordinary.
I think I read somewhere (years ago) that on that 30 knot run he was still water starting across the start line, so he must have had a pretty good 2 sec peak.
