I downloaded a trial version of Win RAR and it is now prompting me to buy.
Q1.What does it actually do?
Q2.Do I need it?
Q3 Is there a free alternative?
I'm using a GT11 and a workmate suggested I should use WinZip.Trying to economise,or at least boy the right version of Win RAR as it seems to be offering me several different alternatives.WinRAR for 98 xp etc is probablel the correct one?
Thanks, Benny.
If it allows you to use it with out buying it just use it.
WinRar is an alternate compression format to Winzip.
if you were looking to flash the software on your GT11 then files are avail in both Zip and Rar formats
RAR files allow greater file compression compared to zip files. For GPS tracks, I wouldn't be concerned, they are tiny files...
Q3: www.7-zip.org/
If you ever want a free alternative, google what you're after as well as 'GPL'.
So for example to find this software I googled "RAR GPL".
GPL is gooooooooddd ![]()
