I was being serious boys and girls. I didn't spend 3 years on the PWA wave and freestyle tour as well as doing a few PWA Speed events not to know what I'm talking about....
I've got no idea, but a lot of guys seem to be on KA Koncepts.
I'm hoping it will be Avalon Sail Co, but Bugs is still very much in the development stage at the moment, I've currently got the use of a rehack of an old race sail, (about 5.7m) that Bugs is fine tuning as a starter. Hopefully we'll get a 5.0 shortly, for the storms when they come thru.
I reckon it has to be the original Windsurfer rig with teak boom and noodle mast. Boy they were quick, outlawed from PWA competition for being too radical and way too fast for speed competitions. Lucky if you'll find one today, the PWA burnt them all to try and keep the competition fair.

Hi there,
Fastest sail powered craft over 500m is Finian Maynard on a prototype 5m Naish sail.
Check out www.gps-speedsurfing.com/default.aspx to see what the top guys are using.
In the top 10 sailors there are 6 brands of sail. Read that how you will! ![]()
Gaastra Vapor
Naish Stealth
KA Koncept
Neil Pryde RS6
Tushingham X15
Severne Code Red
Cheers
Katapult
There's a few variables to consider as well, is a particular sail type consistent thru it's range ie, brand X 5m may be the fastest, but what about the 6m? that may go to brand Y.
I've just become aware that sails can't just be scaled thru the range, a big sail should be flatter than a smaller sail. So there could be relative differences between brands and sizes.
Then there's user variations, different weights. different styles. Brand X may be faster for one person but brand Y another
Pugwash is on the money, you would need to test them all under the same conditions...... but I'm not sure that it matters so much, as Katapult has shown, the top 10 sailors are within cooee of each other, which tends to mean ability is probably more important. So long as you chose one of the top performing brands, you cant go far wrong. I think you also need to consider what you can get in your local area, and what other kit you have etc. IMHO ![]()
