you need to format the card, there is an item in the menu to 'Format Card', basically it makes it compatible with GT31

Or in the computer it needs to be formatted to "fat16". If the GT31 won't format it you've probably got an incompatible card.

Grr I tried to format it and it said stop log first? I switched it on it said bad format and then I went to the memory card section and tried to format it. What do I need to do? How do I stop the log?

In the Memory Card menu there is an item called Log Switch : Values: OFF/On/On Fix, I presume you need to make it 'Off'

Thanks . Ok that worked. I have some sessions on the GPS ( before I got a card).I went into the GPS and saved to card but it only made a new file and saved that. How do I access the earlier sessions?

The "new" file should contain all the full data logger memory, as long as you gave it time to do it's thing. There's a scroll bar moves across the display showing progress of saving to card. This should take a few seconds, and should give you a .sbp file on the card.
So what do you have on the card?

And don't forget to turn data logger back on!

I only have the file it created as I started the GPS - 2 new files. I used the GPS for 2 sessions without a card in it and I thought I'd be able to save those sessions to the card but they don't appear? How do I select them or find them?

Sorry Sue, if you did a "save to card" and there's nothing in the files on the card, then there's nothing in the data logger.

Only guessing here, but maybe you have to wait for it to make it's initial session file before hitting "save to card". If you select save to card while it's in the middle of doing something else, it may not respond properly.
If you have 2 files, one will be the one created on start up meant to hold that days sessions. The other one should be the .sbp file from the data logger, that will have up to 7hrs worth of your latest sessions. These aren't split into individual sessions, they're all in the one file.

If the 2nd file is empty, did you see the progress bar move across the display when you saved to card? How long did it take?

Have you cleared the data logger?

Only files on it were for today 24th. The sessions were back on the 12th + 13th July..there was nothing in any of todays so I deleted them off the card ( once on my computer.)

Yes, that's right, the file will have the download date on it not the session dates, but once you load the file into your software you will be able to separate it into the different sessions.

When the GT31 is plugged into the computer can you check the data with navilink? If there's no data there then you've lost your sessions somehow. If there is data there then try another save to card, this time make sure you give it time to load. then check card again.
