Drowned my gps last month, so got a new one the other day- another GT31. Kinda steering away from the Paqua arm bags as the last one filled up and killed my GPS (maybe just super unlucky...). So anyway, looking for some ideas on keeping them high and dry. I tried a small snap lock Sistema container today, and put my gps in a snap lock plastic bag as well- and lucky I did as the bloody container half filled with water! Besides the Paqua, are there any, good, safe ways to keep these things dry?
Phill,
I use the Paqua bag as well but i also put the GPS in a snap lock sandwich bag as well.
I've never had any water ingress in the Paqua let alone the sandwich bag.
Bone dry.
Thanks Stu. Probably more a case of once bitten twice shy...
Thinking of trying one of these. That's after I put the gps in 5 snap lock bags... http://www.over-board.com.au/waterproof-gps-psp-case.html
Used to use the aquapac. But found that the paqua was better. Just replaced mine as a year is all I expect from it.
I use the paqua bag I always buy a new one once the old one starts looking ratty when am in the water I always keep my arm out of the water if possible as the depth can cause leaks. I have drowned a GT once when swimming in after a crash with broken gear.
Pacqua all the way and in addition I insert the GPS in a ziplock bag and also have a cut up piece of washing up sponge (the flat stuff that is only about 3mm thick) that absorbs any moisture that does find its way into the bag.
Paqua too bulky, been using this cheapie for 12mnths , never had a problem, nice snug fit for gt31
although haven't used da armband I just stuff it in my NP flotation vest pockethttp://www.ebay.com.au/itm/301050322156?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
and this one should be OK

Hi Phil,i,ve been doing these for a while.
Pm me if your interested
Hi Kato, are you still making these?

Same. I drowned two GPS in the aquapac - the material is too thin and is punctured easily, and if you are not careful the seal at the top can be closed incorrectly.
The Pacqua has been good for me but I can see there is a spot where my key has nearly punctured it and it is a bit weak. Replacemtn would be a good idea. If it had been an aquapac the key would have made a hole for sure.

Stephen at Windforce showed me his trick to extend the life of the clear plastic face of his aquapac- clear kite bladder repair tape over the whole face. I too have the same problem with aquapac so will do the patch before trying anything new. Paqua will be the next one I try I think

Yes, PM sent, only ever had one break. It was smashed into the mast and the GPS survived
