Was thinking of updating to windows 10 as it is said to boot up faster & be generally better. But will GPSTC & KA72 work on it? Any clues welcome, words of 2 syllables or less would be good.

Good question. I was a bit lazy and skipped the technical preview this year round (otherwise i would have had a quick check) To be safe it might pay to download and install chrome for win10 just in case microsofts new Spartan browser (which is lined up to replace Internet explorer) doesnt play ball with gpstc or ka72. Always pays to have two browsers installed on your computer these days. One for you and one for the wife

Just tried GPS Team site with windows 10 / spartan - worked fine. Couldnt post on seabreeze though !

Posted this using chrome on win10 - thats ok.

the error I get using spartan on seabreeze is

Crikey!You must post a message!

KA72.com uploads ok but the map viewer gives an eror about cesium

interesting I can edit my post in Spartan but not make a new one.

No wind here - too much time on my hands obviously! Have win10 on an old laptop that is in front of the tv while watching footy.

Might be worth trying navilink as well.

I've got a Window 10 Preview VM (not a local machine, so no way I can set up or test Navilink I think.)

Without doing anything special to the machine, just a raw Windows 10 machine with no applications installed, Cesium (the mapping but of ka72.com and windwanderers.org.au) doesn't work in Internet Explorer, Firefox or Spartan.

After installing Chrome, it works in Chrome fine.

The error messages I got in IE and Firefox led me to believe that the issue with these browsers is video driver related, and most likely not an issue on a recent machine with up to date display drivers.

The error message in Spartan leads me to believe it just doesn't work with WebGL yet. Not to the level required for Cesium, anyway. No surprises there, it's a new browser.

This is with the Preview version of Windows 10.

My advice is, for the moment, if you are running Windows 7 or lower, stick with that for a bit longer. (Don't rush to 10.)

If you are running Windows 8, I suggest you create a USB Recovery Drive first in case you want to go back. support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17422/windows-8-create-usb-recovery-drive

Be prepared to install Chrome as a fallback browser.

While watching the football on Sunday I tested navilink and got "driver errors" trying to install the usb to serial drivers. To be honest I never found it particularly reliable on Windows 7 so wasnt surprised it played up on on 10. Reading the SD Card should be ok (didnt bother with that).

Dylans recommendations seem sound, I wouldnt install it on any machine I actually "needed" to work. However compares to 8 and 8.1 I found it quite pleasant to use and could easily get used to the new UI.

Guys
Running Windows 10 full release (10240) x32 bit (I'd suggest x64 bit users are out of luck)
I think the drivers I used were: www.locosystech.com/en/page/support-download-datasheets.html
Installed NaviLink II also: www.locosystech.com/download.php?fid=73

Once I set the GPS into NaviLink mode, and plugged it in, Windows 10 installs its OWN drivers. You have to go into device manager, and update the driver, select to chose your own, and from list of known drivers - you'll see two available, the oldest (top one) being the one required to make things work. Select that.

Then had to browse the default installation folder: C:\LOCOSYS\NAVILINKII\
and in turn, right click holding SHIFT key, and select properties - then Compatible tab. You need to set each of the below executable's to run as "Windows XP SP3":
gpsbabel.exe
NAVILINKII.exe
NVK.exe
MYAPPEND.bat

Then give it a crack.
I did find MS Edge (new IE), and Google Chrome DO NOT show the "upload to gpsteamchalledge" icon on KA72. Didn't muck around with it much.
That's a KA72 site issue - which no doubt they'll sort out. Still shows you your numbers for manual entry.

I can provide a complete docco with screen shots if anyone needs it - that was all from memory as I'm at work right now.

Edit that: Upload from KA72 to GPSTeamChallenge DOES work using Chrome
