My GT31 has decided to no longer write to
or acknowledge my SD card which has been working
fine until yesterday.
I have tried to extract the log data using Navilink
but i get an error message every time i try to do this:-

NAVILINK command line version V1.64(B20080715a),Locosys 2007
(1)<ERROR_PORT>

Anyone else encountered this,or come arcross simple fix or have
i done something stupid which is usually the case.

Thanks in anticipation.

Is that the GT31 version of navilink or the GT11version?

I don't think the earlier version works with the GT31.

Also you may need to try all the port numbers, I've never used it from the command line, the gui has a port selection button

Hi,

I use Navilink to transfer data from my GT-11 to the computer.

To get the COM port number, which usually changes every time I go to the device manager in the control panel and under COM ports it usually can be found in there. The use the drop down menu to select the port number.

How do you know that? Is there a confirmation message the GPS is talking to Navilink? Try plugging the GPS into another USB port. If you can, install Navilink on another computer and see if that works.

Other than that, google the error message and see if anyone else has this issue.

I am using the correct port because the
device info is displayed on the rhs.
Am also able to retreive the Navi.data from
the GT31,but i cant use this with Realspeed.

So you can receive the navi data but not the log data?

Perhaps its a problem with the GPS? Is the data logging set up correctly?

Hi All,

I realise this is a little off the subject but i have just recieved my brand new GTB-31 in the mail, but haven't as yet had a chance to use it. It would seem that "Navilink" is the program to use when downloading the logged data ect.

question: i want to download and print a map of a section of coastline (app 200km) in fine detail....i have access to a large plotter (AO and beyond). Is it possible to patch sections (zoomed in for detail) from google earth? or can i purchase digital imagery directly somewhere??

any info appreciated
cheers

If you've got photoshop or something like it you can join images together.
Google earth needs a .gpx or .kml file. I think you can set the GT31 to save in one of these formats, if not there's lots of software that will do conversions.

Are you planning a long down winder????

Yeah mate...in short planning a long run on the south coast.

i've been doing some shorter runs 15-30km along the coast hopefully building into a long run sometime late summer. conditions have been a bit ordinary so far this season though so not feeling fit or strong yet!! ....currently just getting kit together, radios, gps ect. ...also sailing gear as new to downwinding, usually just sail in the waves down here.
i will add also that any advice would be greatly appreciated

currently sailing Tabou Rocket 105ltr and Severne Overdrive 7.0m2

cheers, Scott
