it's all 'Sailing' if powered by the wind. 
But lines are very blurred between various forms of foiling and kiting. 
My immediate reaction is "Love the passion and innovation go for it", but a little part of me can't help thinking with Billionaires like Bezos spending their billions to get into space while paying their workers **** wages and forcing them to piss into bottles, and all this research going into speedsailing, that there are just a few more crucial issues that the world needs to solve right now than the best toys for the rich? Maybe you could argue that harnessing wind-power is research that the world needs to solve one of its problems.
