Mad Cam has gone A up while speed sailing off Green Island, broke 2 ribs. He was 30 kilometers off shore from the mainland and had to sail 8 kilometers with broken ribs back to Green Island for help, this was with a 7.8 in about 25 knots

Hope you're up and flying over the reef soon Cam, ya mad basket

OMG broken ribs are terrible. I broke a few in a jetski accident a few years back and it was bad enough putting back on the jetski. I couldn't imagine having sail back - that takes courage and a super high pain threshold. Take it easy and get well soon Dr Cam.

OUCH

Have sailed with broken ribs, super uncomfortable. However rolling over in bed the next few nights will be no walk in the park either!

Get well soon Doc.

I can guess how that feels! I had to sail half a K with a cracked rib and that was bad enough. When I reached shore and picked the board up I felt he rib go pop as it broke off, it felt like being stabbed.

GL with the recovery. I can reccommend wearing an impact vest harness when you're ready to try w surfing again, not so much for the protection but it helps to spread the load and gets you back on the water earlier and with less discomfort.

Bugger hope to catch up with FNQM crew when we come through Cairns late October. Reckon your ribs will just be sort of good enough to breathe by then

I been watching the forecast each day, thinking
And no Lunatic soup, I will take to many days to recover
Be on the road tomorrow. Not going to rush it, will come across from Normanton/Karumba I think at this stage. Reckon towards end of October some time about then.
Will yell out if its too wet and we cut to the Coast and then up.

Hope you get better soon! I'm assuming you hit the reef? Is there no safer place to speedsail up there?
