To 7.8 or not to 7.8??
That is the question.
have on order 5.5, 6.2, 7.0.
just got a JP 112L slalom.
can i justify the additional expense of an extra mast and sail??
Depends how much TOW you want.
I have a 7.5 koncept that has seen quite a lot of use.
How about buying Bender's?
at the price you get em why wouldnt you...
if i were you i definately would get one.. will be perfect for the 122L you will need it for <15-18knots
Definitely!!
here in Sydney you need something with some grunt and the RSR 7.8 is great for that.
heaps of power, tunability and top end.
makes light wind sailing so much easier and fun on a 110+ board.
def Bertie i recon i am lighter than yourself and have used sails that size a fair bit.
(recon i will be using the rs 7.8 a bit as well)
perth seos arent what they used to be!![]()
bender has 1 for sail i think
Absolutely get a 7.8. I absolutely love mine on my 105 Isonic and F2SXL 120 l . I am 70kg and have had loads of use out of it in the few months I have had it.
I've been sailing a JP Slalom V 68 (112L) for the last six months. I guess this may be the board you've bought. I weigh 93kg and for me I would say that a 7.8m is the optimal sail size to be matched with the board (used with a 40cm fin). A 7.0m also goes well with the board (36cm fin OK) but I personally would not go below 6.5m. If you haven't got a smaller board I would think again about getting the 5.5 and even the 6.2.
its ok i also have a 54cm and 59 cm tabou manta for the smaller sails.
the 5.5 was chosen for speed alone.
at the moment i'm about 77kgs and 178cm.
I ran the JP 112L with a 36cm weedie with the old rss 6.7 but i'm not sure if i was under or over finned.
Damm all this talk of fins and sails IS going to keep me awake at night ![]()
